Alias Exterminator 1.0 is an application for scanning writable disks attached to your system for “orphaned” aliases, i.e. aliases for which the original file cannot be found.
After starting Alias Exterminator, choose “Open Scanning Window…” form the File menu. You will be presented with a pop-up menu containing the names of all unlocked, mounted volumes currently on your system. There will also be a group of three radio buttons, marked ‘Auto-delete orphaned aliases’, ‘Build list’ and ‘Fix Interactively’. The first of these scans the selected disks automatically deleting bad aliases. The second scans the disks building a list of bad aliases which are then displayed in a dialog box. You can choose at this stage to mark the aliases for deletion or updating. Hitting the ‘Apply’ button will make Alias Exterminator perform your selected actions. After these actions have been performed, you can choose further actions until you click the ‘Close’ button. The third choice, Fix Interactively, will scan the selected disks and prompt you for a choice of action (Fix, Delete or Skip) every time it encounters a bad alias. When this process is complete, the actions will be performed on the selected aliases. The third option is best when you only have a small number of bad aliases.
If you have chosen to fix an orphaned alias, you will be presented with a directory dialog box in which you can choose the target that you wish the alias to point to.

That means you can give it to your friends, install it on your machine at work, put it on a disk of free software, whatever, BUT payment for its use is required (even if not realistically expected).
